Romantic comedy movies are funny motion pictures about true love and how it's able to defeat even the greatest obstructions. As the name of the movie genre might signal, romantic comedies are a combining of comedies and romances. Screwball comedies and stoner movies are similar in some means to romantic comedies as well. You can also discover TV shows which would qualify as romantic comedies. (Examples may include Sex and the City and Cougar Town.)
Romantic comedies more often than not share a plot. Two individuals meet, are drawn to each other, then have an obstacle block their love story. In the end they reunite and declare their devotion to one another.
The culmination of a romantic comedy is as predictable as the other aspects of the genre. While the two main characters are apart, one or both of them see that they're meant to be together. One or both make a grand gesture to display how much they're in love, and the two main characters wind up together.
The plotline to the romantic comedy genre is as old as Shakespeare. A Comedy of Errors and Love's Labour's Lost can also be considered early romantic comedies. The storyline can deviate in its specifics and demonstration though.
A newer variation of the romantic comedy is the R-rated romantic comedy that's meant to appeal to men as well as to women. These fresher romantic comedy movies often include elements of the stoner comedy genre. Examples include Superbad and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
